Welcome to Holdfast Designs, where you can find needlework tools, jewelry and other accessories all hand made, featuring unusual lampwork beads hand crafted by small US artisans.
My needlework accessory line starts with the thread counters - a unique pair of needles that help count across a stretch of fabric to the next stitching location. My "Threader/Unthreader" helps get those fuzzy fibers into the needle, and the large gauge needle helps pick out those unfortunate mistakes without distorting the ground fabric.
For the knitter, I've created stitch counters that are guaranteed snag-free, lightweight, and unobtrusive to the knitter. My sister, a lifelong knitter, has given me the knitter's "thumbs up" on these. All stitch counters come on a twisted cord with lobster claw clasp, making them perfect to attach to the handle of your knitting basket.
A specialty of mine is the scissors fob. For anyone who does work with scissors (stitchers, quilters, knitters, scrapbookers) you all know that you come to love and cherish *your* scissors. They just feel right in your hand, and you know when you're using someone else's scissor. Not only that, but you may have spent a goodly sum on just the right scissor, and you don't want to lose, or damage them. A scissors fob will help to tell your scissors from anyone else's. More important, should you accidently knock them from the table or arm of your chair, with a fob attached, the handles will fall first, allowing the tip of the scissor to gently fall on its side. Having lost an expensive pair of scissors to a hardwood floor, I now have fobs on all my scissors!
